Dear Friends:
Today is the first day I rode my bike to work. The temperature was above 0, no wind and the sun was shining. I was a bit hesitant because last year on my first ride a mud puddle jumped out and grabbed me allowing my lunch to fly out of the basket and make a hasty escape.
As I rounded the corner, I expected an ambush, but the path was dry. So no incidents.
Last year I fell three times, with things in my carrier basket sailing through the air and me falling into something scratchy like tall grass or a bush. I expect the same number of falls this year. Riding my bike is a constant struggle between me and the elements – the ground/bushes/trees/curbs jumping out to grab the wheels and me going ass over teakettle. Then quickly looking around to see if anyone saw me.
Yes I know I should ride slower and quit going on those winding trails, but other wise it is borrrrrring!
